Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree from the department of English literature. Mitchell was employed as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel during 1988's presidential debates, that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. She covered many notable stories such as arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan together with Mikhail Gorbachev.
